Water Polo

Competition Details:
  • When: Tuesdays, starting Week 2, 14th October – 2nd December (8 weeks total)
  • A Grade: Baywave (club training space) (6:00-7:30pm)
  • B & C Grades: Toi Ohomai (4:00-8:00pm)
  • Cost: $90.00 per student
  • Team Entries: Schools may enter one team per grade only.

C Grade is intended for those who are still learning the game — not just younger or smaller players, but anyone new to water polo. Last term, frequent player sharing between grades made it hard to keep this grade beginner-friendly. This term, the competition has asked schools to minimise movement between grades so new players get better game time.

Mini Puck

Underwater Hockey is a game where 2 teams race from each end of the pool to get to the puck in the middle on the bottom of the pool. You swim underwater using UWH sticks to push and pass the puck to team mates to get the puck to the other end to score a goal in the bin.

Equipment Required
Togs & Towel – Any swimwear is suitable as teams are identifiable by stick colour and caps. All players will be equipped with a mask, snorkel and fins, a glove, a cap and sticks to use on the nights, however if you have their own mask, snorkel and fins, you are welcome to bring your own. All gear is sanitised after each use.

Dates: Friday 7th November – Friday 12th December 2025
Time: 4:00pm – 6:00pm – draw will be emailed out to managers and schools, we play rain or shine.
Venue: Memorial Pools
Cost: $45 per player – including pool entry, gear use and coaching

Coaching
The first week will be an introduction to the game; to go over basic rules and for all players to meet their student coaches before competition begins. Teams will need to provide a manager/team supervisor for each game.  There needs to be at least 6-7 students wanting to play to be able to enter a team.
