Volleyball

Volleyball is played on a Friday night at the QEYC Stadium or the Haumaru Centre anywhere from 4:00pm till 8:30pm. Games may also be played at Otumoetai College depending on entry numbers. The draw comes out each week on the Tauranga Volleyball Website. This starts on 20th February and goes until 27th March 2026. This is 6-aside volleyball, on a full court and games are 40 minutes.  Students organise themselves into teams of 8-9 players.  Students need to be in teams of the same year groups but they can be mixed genders. Each team will need a Coach/Manager to be able to enter.

The cost to play volleyball for Term 1 is $45.00 per student.  Tauranga Volleyball has increased the cost per team.

This grade will now not be allowed to catch and throw. They will play 6-a side on a FULL Adult Volleyball Court. Only TWO overhead serves (from the baseline) are allowed then underhand serves.  An adult MUST be side-line at all times of play to supervise the team.

There is now a Super League which is played at The Haumaru Centre. This league is only for those teams that have advanced skills. The Sports Co-ordinator will decide what teams should enter in this grade.

KiwiTag/Rippa Rugby

KiwiTag is played on Monday nights at Mitchell Park between 3:45pm and 6:00pm. Students organise themselves into their own teams of 9-10 players. No more than 10 players can be in a team. The competition starts on the 16th February until 30th March 2026.

Each team needs a Coach/Manager to be able to enter. Each team will get issued shorts to use by the Ōtūmoetai Eels Club at the first game for the term and these need to be returned at the last game.

The cost to play KiwiTag this term is $35.00 per student.

Water Polo

There are three grades, ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’. A & B Grades are suited to the more experienced players. C Grade is compulsory to all inexperienced players.

The first three weeks are about activation and engagement, trying to increase participation and support schools to ease the transition into competitive play. The first three weeks of competition we can enter up to three teams at no cost, giving students a chance to try competitive play before committing. After these three weeks we will confirm our teams and competitive play will run for the last four weeks. Each team will need a Coach/Manager to be able to enter.

A Grade plays on Tuesdays at Baywave anywhere between 6.00pm and 7.30pm

B Grade plays on Tuesdays at the Toi Ohomai Polytechnic Pool anywhere between 6.00pm and 7.30pm

C Grade plays on Tuesdays at the Toi Ohomai Polytechnic Pool anywhere between 4.00pm and 5.30pm

Games are 30 minutes long. We will hold a meeting on Friday 13th February 2026 for all those interested students to let them know which grade is suited to them to attend. Sunday’s are booked at Baywave from 12:00 noon to 2:00pm for trainings for all teams. This will commence on March 8th when teams have been confirmed teams after the give it a go period.
