Ōtūmoetai Intermediate is situated on an attractive 5 hectare site with many mature trees around the school buildings and in a conservation area enhancing the physical appearance of the grounds.

The conservation area provides students with a pleasant and shady place during hot summer days.

The school site has been extensively redeveloped with facilities built to enhance the technology and arts programmes in the school along with a Literacy and Learning Centre.

These facilities include a performing arts centre, music tutoring rooms, graphic design room, science and biotechnology rooms, purpose built super loos, technology rooms, information and communication suite, teaching spaces for smaller groups, state of the art research centres and a modern Literacy and Learning Centre.

Two playing fields enable football and rugby to be played and two astro turfs cater for hockey, tennis, basketball and netball.

An extensive exercise course, including a new playground, has been established to develop student physical strength and large motor body skills.
